Why We Need Not Worry About Anything: A Short Devotion

O LORD, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory above the heavens,

From the lips of children and infants

You have ordained praise

Because of your enemies to silence the foe and the avenger.

 Psalm 8:1-2

You call me to walk with you this day.  And you never call your created to anything other than what you give grace to accomplish.

Take my face in your hands and hold me still.  Cup your holy fingers as blinders on the sides of my eyes that I may see only you and your lovely face, this day, in all I think, say, and do.

Breathe through me.  See through me.  Make me a vessel of your will, wherever I am.

When I consider your heavens,

The work of your fingers,

The moon and the starts, which you have set in place,

What is man that you are mindful of him,

The son of man that you care for him?

 Psalm 8:3-4

Keep reminding my every-failing memory that I need not worry about my life or the lives of those I love or even your enemies on this earth.  If you hold the stars and moon in place—if you give the birds their daily seed—will you not feed me and all you love?  Will you not deal with your enemies, even as you still provide their daily bread?

O yes!  You will!

So I will rest, this day, in your perfect love, your perfect provision, knowing you will accomplish in me and through me your will, your way, in your time.  Create in me a heart of cooperation with your Holy Spirit today.  Infuse me with you in all I think, say, and do—this day.

O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
