What are We Waiting For?

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 14:6

A continuation from Monday’s post . . .

Back to Benghazi, which is just a reflection of reality, now . . .

Hate spreading hate.  Violence spreading violence.

I’m not trying to incite hatred or violence by bringing up this subject. But may I kindly ask what’s stirring in your own heart as you read these words?

The two evils of our world—Hate and Violence? They need no help. They spread as fast as the fire that killed the U.S. ambassador and another inside the Libyan compound. And it’s not even the flames that killed . . .

Sin starts in the heart. It’s the smoke that asphyxiates the life right out of us. The dark billowing cloud of sin we’re so steeped in.

There are Benghazis all over the world.  There are Benghazis in our own hearts.

Why all the wars and rumors of wars and those denying the wars in foreign lands, on domestic land, in families?

Why the guns and tongues of hate—the constant criticism, the slandering gossip?

Why the lies and spin so someone can win or one-up?

It’s so easy to point the finger out and not in, isn’t it?

So, who will save us?  What will save us?  Our world seems to be spinning out-of-control and people are anxious.

Seems to me there’s only one answer that has two equal components—Love and Truth.  Seems to me the whole answer is found only in one person—Jesus Christ.  Seems to me that He’s our only hope—to love him and his ways with all our hearts, souls, mind and strength. And, no less important, to love each other as we want to be loved.  Love richly with Grace. Stand firmly in Truth. And do both, always.

Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all you mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.
