Hi I'm Heather

Come stroll the trails with me on our 44 acre Midwest horse farm where I seek God in the ordinary and always find Him--the Extraordinary--wooing, teaching, wowing me with Himself. Thanks for visiting. I hope you will be blessed!

Follow the Leader

Forty-four acres of fresh white beckon us, “Come!”  Winter snow blankets hush, creating still all around.  And my soul quiets.  I long for such moments away from the noise.

“Come away with me!  Come to the quiet!”  I hear His voice and my heart throbs, “YES!”

This I want—to be with Him in the quiet, away from the din of my days, and thank Him for creating all this beauty around.

So we strap on our skis and go, husband and I.  There’s a holy hush on these fields where setting sun infuses ice crystals strewn.  We slide by cattail and skating ponds and spot a red-tailed hawk perched high, silhouette on dusky sky.

And all the while, I follow the path he has cut for me.  He has done the work of tracking the way. And I glide behind, peaceful—thankful.

And I think about paths and forging and gliding.  I think about journeys and burdens and following.  This is life.  We all have concerns that weigh us down—that make moving ahead exhausting at times.  We set our own tracks and hope to find rest for our souls.

How often do we lay our burdens down, remove ourselves from the noisy rush, and allow ourselves to be led into quiet by the One who has already set the path to peace?  There is not one hurt in our life His heart has not felt—not one broken place with which His cross has not dealt.

We can lay our burdens down—and glide—if we will just follow the Leader.

We are meant for this.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.  Proverbs 3:5-6
